What is MVW21?

MVW21 are July-October study groups to help board candidates and school supporters develop a vision for Mountain View schools for the 21st century. This is not an official policy-setting organization, but an open space to exchange and design new ideas.

Why is this being founded?
School policy is decided by three out five votes by the school board.
In November 2012, three completely new trustees will be elected to fill the three pending vacancies.
This is a rare moment since it is certain a new majority will be formed from among the candidates.
This makes the development of the candidates a chance to move new ideas.

Is MVW21 affiliated with the school district?
No. These study groups are being formed by private citizens and run independently from the school district, because we want the discussions to be as open and bold as possible: inspired by but unencumbered by current school policies.

Who should attend?
Anyone who wants to influence policy and priority of our local public schools. The discussions are not just for candidates, but also for parents, educators, school administrators, and community members. The first meeting will be in late July.
